In this TED talk, Aspen Baker discusses the stigma around talking about abortion and empathizing with others about their personal ideals or experiences. She talks about her hotline that she opened up where both men and women can call in to get support. She explains that this harsh duality of “pro-choice versus pro-life” and how it is hindering our capability of empathy. Baker wraps everything up by noting that “empathy gets created the moment we place ourselves in someone else’s shoes,” which I think sums up the ideas that Jamison and Chen were trying to convey in their articles.
