In “Unfollow,” Adrian Chen details the story of the life of Megan Phelps-Roper and how drastically it changed. Deep within the phrasing of this biographical account of Megan’s journey before, during, and after leaving the Westboro baptist church lies a sort of argument that Chen is proposing. It seems to me that he’s making an underlying argument about how using empathy when engaging others about their ideas, thoughts, or opinions that may be harmful to others mental, physical, or emotional is very important and may even help them to change their views and actions for the better.
