In this article, Jamison expresses empathy in multiple places, even when it’s in the simplest of places and in the most minor little ways. In the methods section of this writing, she discusses an encounter that she had with another woman in regards to Morgellons disease, saying that this woman has “been finding it harder and harder to leave her house. She’s too embarrased by her face. I [Jamison] tell her that I don’t think that her face is anything to be embarrassed about. ‘It’s harder when it’s your own body,’ I add awkwardly. ‘I know that'” (Jamison 229). This bit right here shows how Jamison is acknowledging the other womans pain and hardships in reference to the disease.
